Remote And Mobile
Agent Plugin
Install the pure Alera Agent Plugins 1.0 package in a compatible client, with portable skills and remote MCP and no vendor extensions.
On This Page
Agent Plugin is the pure portable distribution of Alera, targeting Agent Plugins 1.0.0. It contains root plugin.json, root mcp.json, five immediate skill directories with references, a generic README, and the MIT license. The identifier is alera-agent. There are no provider extensions, client manifests, client-specific metadata, hooks, agents, installers, or authentication headers. The standard defines no display-name or logo field; neither is invented.
Package version: 1.0.0. This is separate from ChatGPT, Claude web, GrokBot Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
Generic Installation#
- Choose a client that explicitly supports Agent Plugins 1.0.0, Agent Skills, and Streamable HTTP MCP. Check its current documentation for supported components and authorization.
- Download the ZIP and checksum, verify the archive bytes, and extract the complete
alera-agentfolder. Follow the client’s own plugin import or folder-loading procedure, selecting the directory containing rootplugin.json. - Confirm five discovered skills and the
aleraMCP server. Connect through the client’s authorization interface when requested. Keep credentials in the client’s storage, never in chat or package files. - Start Alera on the intended machine, sign in under Settings → Account, and let the owner choose runtime access under Settings → MCP Access → MCP Control. Load
alera-setupthrough the client’s skill interface and ask to inspect runtimes and projects. Read access is enough; no workspace or agent is created as a setup test.
The standard does not define a universal installation command, folder, ZIP-upload UI, marketplace, enabled state, or update mechanism. See the authoring guide and the compatible-client catalog, then verify the chosen client’s actual capabilities. Schema conformance does not mean every client supports this server or its authorization.
Portable Skills And Remote MCP#
The two JSON documents declare the canonical 1.0.0 schema URLs. MCP uses the explicit standard transport streamable-http at https://api.alera.build/v1/mcp. Skills follow Agent Skills, including string-valued metadata, and are discovered from immediate children of skills/. References are read through client file-reading facilities; if unavailable, the exposed remote read_skill tool is an optional fallback whose version can differ.
Authorization, preview-before-removal, explicit merge scope, idempotent retries, administrative access, and explicit permission for reduced protections remain in the skills. Examples of agent profiles describe programs launched on Alera runtimes, not requirements for the plugin client. Orchestration uses those Alera agents rather than native client subagents.
OAuth And Interoperability Limits#
Alera exposes public discovery and dynamic registration. This package does not constrain the advertised read, execute, or administrative scope request. Review the actual consent and selected runtimes. Setup does not reconnect automatically, bypass insufficient_scope, or upgrade permissions as a connectivity test. Remote MCP payloads travel through Alera’s cloud over TLS, readable during forwarding and not stored by the forwarding service. See the Privacy Policy for general handling.
Validation#
Build and tests validate plugin.json and mcp.json against pinned copies of the official JSON Schemas, using draft 2020-12. Additional checks cover HTTPS URL semantics, contained regular archive files, absence of extension data and client-specific files, Agent Skills frontmatter, authorization instructions, deterministic ZIPs, checksums, all five downloads, and website behavior. Schemas and validator dependencies are build inputs and are not bundled.
These checks do not prove real installation, OAuth exchange, refresh, runtime access, or interoperability in any particular client. The normative specification governs the package; each client’s implementation and policy determine which components can be used.
